It would be difficult to overestimate the many talents
of Dinny McLaughlin and his effect on Irish culture. There
is an enormous range of talent to consider besides his virtuoso
fiddle playing: Dinny is also a tin-whistle player, piano
player, a gifted composer, Irish dancer, a music teacher
and a dance teacher.

Dinny has been
many things to many people. Talent, fame and fortune could
well have lured him away to other lands on many occasions.
But it has been Inis Eoghain's great good fortune that he
chose to remain in his native place, rooted in the community
that shaped and fashioned him and that was, in turn, musically
shaped and fashioned by him.
